Gun Safety

As Rhode Island’s leading gun safety lawmaker, Jason Knight has advanced bold legislation to keep us safe. His long record of legislative successes includes authoring, sponsoring and passing into law the Assault Weapons Ban (2025) and the Straw Purchaser Ban (2022). Jason is endorsed by the Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence and is a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate.

As Attorney General, Jason will:

  • Tackle illegal firearms trafficking through interagency coordination with state and federal law enforcement partners  to trace, investigate, and prosecute these crimes to the fullest extent of the law.

  • Lobby the General Assembly to pass the Firearm Industry Accountability Act and update our Blue Card law to require basic firearm safety training prior to obtaining a firearm license.

  • Strengthen and invest in community nonviolence intervention programs.
